If a law requires the document to be signed, the text has no effect, and you still need to get it eSigned.

If the law doesn't require a signature, the text is fine, and the document is valid without a signature.

Is it mandatory to eSign the eStamp?

No, it is not mandatory to eSign the stamp paper.

How long are eStamps valid? Once attached to an eSigned document, is it valid for life?

For unused stamp paper: Some states (e.g., Karnataka, Maharashtra) have a 6-month validity from the date of issuance — after that, you can't use it. Other states have no prescribed expiry — the stamp paper remains valid for more than 6 months.

‍Once attached to an eSigned document: Stamp paper is valid for life (provided it was valid when it was affixed).
