Leegality's Privacy Notice for Employees & Job Applicants
Introduction
This Privacy Notice is for employees, job applicants and past employees of Leegality. This policy explains in simple language how we handle the personal data we collect during the hiring process and during the course of your employment, all in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA).

What info do we collect from you?
To get to know you, we need to collect some information. We only ask for what's necessary.
◦ When you apply:
- Your Basics: Your name, email, phone number, and address.
- Your Professional background: Your CV, which includes your work experience, education and skills.
- Your References: Contact details for people who can vouch for you.
- Assessments and Interviews: Personal data mentioned in your assessments or over interview rounds, recordings of interviews if any.
◦ If you get the job :
- The Official Stuff: We'll need government IDs like your PAN and Aadhaar details for legal, background verification and payroll purposes.
- Salary Stuff: Your bank account details and Employee Provident fund details so we can pay you
- Emergency Info: Contact details for your family or dependents, for emergencies and insurance payouts just in case.
Why we need your info and what we do with it
We use your information for a few key reasons, which the law calls "Legitimate Uses" for employment.
◦ During Hiring:
- To see if you’re a great fit for the role and for the Leegality team.
- To schedule interviews and keep you updated on your application.
- To run some background checks (more on that below).
◦ Once You're on the Team:
- To get you set up as an official employee (onboarding, creating your employee file).
- To handle all the essentials like payroll, taxes, and benefits.
◦ For the Future:
- If the first role isn't the right fit, we’d love to keep your info in our talent pool and let you know about other openings that might be perfect for you.
- For legal records of previous employment and your time with Leegality.
Background Checks
To make sure everything is above board, we run a few standard checks. This helps us build a safe and trustworthy team. These checks might include:
- Verifying Your Story: Making sure your education and past employment details are accurate.
- Reference Checks: Chatting with the professional references you provided.
- Criminal Record and Credit Score Check: As permitted by law, to ensure a safe work environment.
Who else might see your info?
Sometimes, we may need help from trusted third-party partners to get things done. We always make sure they take your privacy as seriously as we do.
Here’s who we might share it with:
- Background Check Agencies: The professionals who help us with the verification process.
- Our Tech Partners: The companies that provide our HR and recruitment software.
- The Government: We may need to share info with tax authorities or for legal reasons.
- Payroll & Benefits Providers: To make sure you get paid and have access to all your benefits.
Your rights – you're in control
It's your data, and you have rights. You can always:
- Access your info: Ask us for a copy of the personal data we have about you.
- Correct or Delete it: If something's wrong, you can ask us to fix it or delete your data.
- Nominate someone: You can appoint someone to manage your data rights in case you are unable to.
- Raise a concern: If you have any issues with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint.
